Stepney Down (OO)

Stepney Down is a fictitious Heritage Railway of an un-designated location, modeled in OO gauge.

Built as my first attempt at model railway construction, the layout was completed in early 2009, attending its first exhibition in October the same year. Being a 'preservation' line, almost anything can be seen riding the rails, allowing complete freedom in train formations.

After three years on the circuit however, it has been temporarily retired as of November 2012 to allow for a major rebuild which should also see some major improvements made to its setup. No date has been set for this work to be completed, having not yet commenced, so it cannot be committed to any exhibitions for the foreseeable.

Prior to refurbishment, the layout consisted of a 2-through road, 1-bay road station, with a small goods yard and four road engine shed at the opposite end. The fiddle-yard break was masked by a road-over bridge.

The layout measures approximately 21ft x 1.5ft without operating space; with this a total required space would be 22ft x 5ft. The layout requires only one power point and is self-supporting, but would require a spacious stock table if available which would add to the required operating space. Three operators attend with Stepney Down.
Minimum expenses would be £80, subject to fuel price increases.

Images show the layout ahead of its renovation.
These will be updated once the renovation has been carried out.
